Investors Lost N113.49bn as NGXASI Declined by 0.20%; BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,524/USD

 1. EQUITIES MARKET 

1.1 NGX – Listed Equities

Trading on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) closed Tuesday negatively, extending the previous day’s loss on depreciation in prices of Tier 1 banks like GTCO (-4.21%), ETI (-3.86%), UBA (-2.74%), FBNH (-1.75%), ZENITHBANK (-0.40%) and 19 others companies. 

The All-Share Index (NGXASI) was down  0.20% to close at 99,805.95 points, stretching Monday’s loss of 0.02% at 100,006.79 points. As such, investors lost N113.49bn as market capitalisation fell to N56.46trn, while the year-to-date return stood at 33.48%. 

The total volume traded declined by 38.74% to close at 422.69m, valued at N53.96bn and traded in 8,256 deals. VERITASKAP was the most traded stock by volume, with N36.30m units traded, while GTCO was the most traded stock by value, worth N1.08bn.

The Gote index advanced by 0.05% to close at 343.40 points on close to 2% gain in DANGSUGAR, the Toni index declined by 0.55% to 1,284.60 points, while the Samad index remained flat at 364.34 points.

As measured by the market breadth index (MBI), investors’ sentiment closed negatively at 0.07x with 24 losers against 28 gainers, while 59 equities were unchanged. CHAMPION topped the gainers’ list, while AFRIPRUD topped the losers’ list.  

Volume and Value Contribution

VERITASKAP was the most traded in volume, contributing 8.59%, while FIDELITYBK and AIICO followed behind.  

The value chart shows that GTCO contributed the most, with a 2.01% share. ZENITHBANK and GEREGU followed closely behind.

At the close of trading, the NASD OTC market recorded one (1) gainer and one (1) loser.
