Victor Adoji, unblemished professional and scholar brings purpose, principles, credibility, confidence and astuteness to Kogi East Senatorial contest
Despite the uncertainties in some quarters, the 2023 general elections may change Nigeria’s politics for good, and this is most likely, going by recent developments. Among many political pundits, it is very possible that this forth-coming general elections would resolve all the outstanding issues around poor representation and incompetence. Already, competent Nigerians are squaring up with the so-called professional politicians for the various political positions in the build-up to the elections.
Before now, politicians had their way. They decided the fate of many Nigerians by imposing all manner of candidates because of the obvious lack of interest by the citizenry but all these appear to be changing.
For instance, in Kogi East Senatorial district, things are already looking up in the direction of solving this age-long problem. Since when Victor Alewo Adoji formally declared his interest in representing the good people of Kogi East at the upper legislative chamber, many have commended the young and dynamic professional for taking the decision. Others consider his action timely and well thought-out, given the poor state of representation, not only in Kogi State but in the entire Nigeria.
Adoji will be running on the platform of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP. The opposition party and the people of Kogi East, no doubt, will be a major beneficiary of Adoji’s assets. This thorough-bred professional and scholar who is well known in the corporate communications world and Nigeria’s banking industry will definitely bring a lot to the table. He is urbane, talented, exposed, trust-worthy, intelligent, God-fearing and connected in the right places. These and more are some of the things that would accompany the astute banker and consummate communications expert to the senate.
For the aspirant, this a dream come through. For a man who has spent the last couple of years empowering both the young and old, particularly those in schools and colleges, getting involved radically increases his chances of doing better. Aside improving lives directly with more opportunities at his disposal, Adoji will also give Kogi East a voice and a respectable presence among his colleagues from other parts of the country. With an active voice and inclusive representation which is the aspirant’s cardinal campaign promise, Kogi East will rebound and return to the old path of excellence.
Back in Kogi East, Adoji’s supporters, especially the youth, are already upbeat. They are happy because character, vision, trust and knowledge, four of the aspirants many attributes would play a very big roles in the coming elections. Conscious of the electorate’s expectations, the aspirant is working tirelessly to meet their hopes and aspirations. He even asked his people to recall him if he fails to deliver. “I will sign a contract with you and I would want the same with any other person contesting with me if given the mandate, to do so. If after 24 months as your senator and I do not move you from where we are to where Kogi East should be, recall me”, he said.
He emphasized this position at his Ofu Local Government speech where he drew his people’s attention to the changing times and on the need to elect digital contestants and those with proven ability and mission. According to him, “the world is evolving and people are moving away from oil and other mineral resources. Most developed countries do no rely on mineral resources because they do not even have them, so we must re-think our agenda and development”.
But Adoji is not under any illusion about the challenges ahead. He appreciates the fact that as a senator, he has no budget to build schools, roads, hospitals and other major projects that would benefit his people but his readiness, passion, network of friends and past activities would make a huge difference. For him, the task to re-build Kogi East is an emergency and he is prepared to do everything possible to return his peoples past glory in the areas of education, agriculture, community development, alternative dispute resolution, good neighborliness and culture, among other things.
In a way, this may payback time for Adoji who has also invested heavily on students through Victor Alewo Adoji Youths and Students Education Foundation Network. Apart from endorsements from this group of students, the aspirant is also enjoying some goodwill from the high and the mighty. Two former governors of Kogi State, Captain Idris Wada and Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, both distinguished PDP members have endorsed Adoja who is happy with their kind words and support. Recently, he was also endorsed by a coalition of political parties in Kogi State, this is in addition to other isolated solidarity visits and ratification of his candidacy by groups, heads of communities, market women, artisans and students who believe in his vision to rescue Kogi East.
For now, Adoji has visited all the local government areas in his senatorial district and he is still consulting and consolidating on the gains of his work and good name. surely, many see the future in this amiable banker.
