The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 17-year-old boy, Usman Dauda, for allegedly defiling a three-year-old girl in Saki.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, in Ibadan.
According to the statement, the case was reported at the Saki Divisional Police Station on September 17, 2026, at about 6:00 p.m., after the child went missing while being brought back from school that afternoon.
A search was conducted in the area, and the child was found by the roadside in distress. Preliminary findings indicated that the suspect allegedly took her into his apartment where the act was committed.
Ayanlade said detectives immediately visited the scene, secured it, and arrested the suspect. He added that key evidence linked to the incident was recovered.
“The young survivor was promptly rushed to a medical facility in Saki, where she is currently receiving comprehensive medical treatment and psychological care,” the police said.
The Command reaffirmed its zero-tolerance stance on child abuse and sexual violence, noting that the privacy, dignity and identity of the victim and her family would be fully protected in line with the Child Rights Act and ethical guidelines.
The case has been transferred to the Gender Desk at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, Ibadan, for further investigation and prosecution.
The police urged residents to remain vigilant and report cases of violence against children and other vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
In a similar incident in January, a 17-year-old boy, Jamiu Adebayo, was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s eight-year-old daughter in the Aregbe area of Abeokuta.
