Nigerian Pastor Flees Cameroon Church After Mummified Body Found In Shallow Grave
A Nigerian cleric based in Cameroon, Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, has fled after police discovered the mummified body of a woman buried in a shallow grave inside his church premises in Yaoundé.
The body was found on September 19 at about 9 a.m. by officers of the Nkoabang Special Police Station during an investigation into the cleric, who heads the Mercy of God Ministry in Nkoabang, Yaoundé.
According to Cameroon Tribune, police described the scene as unusual: “The lid is broken. Inside, a body, a lady at first sight, dressed in a traditional blue outfit with gold embroidery, in a state of mummification, rests on a padding. This is not a normal grave.”
The discovery came weeks after a September 6 search at another property linked to the ministry in Ngousso, Yaoundé, where security operatives found a basement housing 20 people – 10 women, eight men and two children aged six and seven.
Security agents say Kenechukwu fled shortly after the grave was uncovered and is currently wanted. An investigation is ongoing.
