In a swift and highly coordinated security operation, Mrs. Blessing Chiedu, a native of the Umunede Kingdom, has been successfully rescued alive and unharmed from her abductors. Mrs. Chiedu was kidnapped on July 2, 2026, along the Ani-Ifekide Farm Road in Ubulu-Uku. Following her abduction, the criminal gang had contacted her family and demanded a staggering ransom of ₦100 million for her release.
Upon receiving the report, Harrison Gwamnishu of SafeCity Security Service immediately escalated the matter to law enforcement. The Delta State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad in Asaba, led by CSP Osakpolor, swung into action. Utilizing the advanced Hydra Tech Surveillance System, security forces launched a precise tracking operation that culminated in the successful rescue of Mrs. Chiedu along the Ubulu-Unor/Ashama Road.
With the victim safely secured, security forces immediately shifted focus to tracking the fleeing criminals. A relentless manhunt was sustained throughout the night. At approximately 6:45 a.m. today, surveillance intelligence pinned the gang’s location down to a hidden camp inside the dense Ogwashi-Uku/Adonta Forest.
A fierce gun battle ensued as a combined team of security operatives closed in on the hideout and overpowered the criminals. During the firefight, one of the region’s most wanted suspects, Abubakar Usman, was successfully captured. While Usman was taken into custody, other members of the gang managed to escape deeper into the forest with their firearms, prompting an ongoing search.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Abubakar Usman and his syndicate are the primary actors behind a string of high-profile kidnappings across Igbodo, Umunede, and neighboring communities. The group is believed to have extorted millions of naira in ransom from terrorized local families over recent months.
The success of the operation has been credited to an extensive network of collaborative stakeholders. Key acknowledgments were extended to Delta State Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for fostering an enabling security environment, the Commissioner of Police, and DSP Paul Xdot. Vital operational support was also provided by the Nigeria Forest Security Service Area Command led by DC Admin Ebube Jegbefume, the Ubulu-Uku Anti-Cult Group, Ward 5B Councillor Hon. Okocha Martins, Aniocha South LGA Chairman Pastor Jude Chukwuweike, and the Mayor of Orumba South LGA in Anambra State, Hon. Shadrack Azubuike.
