Tinubu hails Soludo’s re-election, describes victory as endorsement of visionary leadership
PRESIDENT Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on his re-election, describing the victory as a resounding affirmation of his visionary leadership and the progress recorded under his administration.
In a statement signed by the president on Sunday, November 9, 2025, he noted that Soludo’s re-election which makes him only the third governor in Anambra’s history to secure a second term, reflected the people’s confidence in his performance and commitment to development.
“The overwhelming victory he recorded in Saturday’s poll is a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress the state has made under his guidance,” Tinubu said.
The President commended Soludo’s unique style of governance, saying the former Central Bank Governor had shown that academic excellence could translate into effective leadership and people-centered governance.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that indeed knowledge is power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of people and resources,” he noted.
Tinubu recalled his visit to Anambra earlier in the year, where he inaugurated projects executed by the Soludo administration, praising the governor’s “good thinking” and the innovative vision behind his initiatives.
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, the state is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation,” the President added.
While urging Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to work with his opponents, Tinubu assured him of the Federal Government’s continued support and partnership in advancing development in the state.
He also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and credible election, describing the outcome as proof of the strength of Nigeria’s democracy.
“The victory of the opposition All Grand Progressives Alliance again demonstrates the vitality of our political system and the fact that victory for any progressive and hardworking leader can hardly be encumbered or denied,” he said.
President Tinubu also applauded the new INEC Chairman, Professor Joash Amupitan, for his leadership in what he described as a credible and transparent process, urging the commission to continue improving the integrity of Nigeria’s electoral system.
