Following the statutory retirement of some members of the management team of the Nigeria Customs Service, the Comptroller General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, has approved key management appointments in an acting capacity.
Adeniyi stated that the redeployment would enhance strategic service delivery.
CGG, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR in his quest for an excellently reformed Customs Service has embarked on transformation of the Service with new movements, fresh appointments and retirement at Management, peak of professional rank.
As month of August, 2024 winds close to a halt so as to hand over to September, Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Festus Oyedele Okun began his pre retirement leave.
As of then, there were movement/appointment for Deputy Comptrollers General of Customs, DCGs like Jibo, warranting portfolio change.
Barrister Tayo Alajogun, former ACG Headquarters is now appointed in acting capacity as Deputy Comptroller General, DCG of Customs in charge of Enforcement, Inspection and Investigation.
Similarly, at Management entrance level, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, ACGs Bamidele Abiodun Makinde and Timi Bomodi were appointed.
Also announced Acting ACGs are Odafu A Salefu and Umar, Isah G that is now ACG Headquarters.
Still at the Customs Management entrance rank, Comptrollers Makinde is now Acing ACG Human Resources and Bomodi, Tim is now appointed Acting ACG, EI&I.
Salefu is now Acting ACG at TRADOC of the Customs Seevie.
In same vein, at apex professional rank, being Comptroller of Customs, the service has some fresh changes cum movements:
Comptroller Dare Osoba, former Comptroller, Special Duties at Headquarters is now Comptroller, Customs Intelligence Unit, CIU.
Also, one time National PRO of the service and immediate Customs Area Controller at Seme Border, Bomodi is now replaced wit another seasoned Customs officer:
Comptroller Kayode Richard Kolade now heads Seme Border as Customs Area Controller; Kolade until April, 2024 was Controller, Federal Operations Unit, Zone C at Owerri, Imo State, headquarters office for five South East and six South/Southern States axis of Nigeria.
It is to be noted that Acting DCG Alajogun and Acting ACGs Makinde, Umar, Bomodi and Salefu would be in the acting capacity for numbers of days, couples of weeks and months, possibly, three months before their confirmations to move up the Management Team cadre and, at entrance level at Customs Management Team.
It is expected that before end of August, all hand/take over formalities shall be concluded by all concerned officers of the Service.
