President Buhari extends Adamu’s tenure as IGP by three months

President Muhammadu Buhari has extended the tenure of the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, by three months.

Minister of Police Affairs, Muhammad Dingyadi, announced this to State House Correspondents after a meeting with President Buhari.
According to Dingyadi, the president’s decision was to allow for proper selection of a successor.
Before the latest development, two men – an Assistant Inspector General and Deputy Inspector General of police – were reportedly picked as acting IGP. President Buhari’s latest step has therefore cleared the air on who is in charge at the Louis Edet House headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force.
