THE Police command in Lagos State recorded major operational successes between December 2025 and January, recovering fake foreign currencies, firearms and 25 vehicles from criminal suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Olohundare Jimoh, disclosed this on Monday while addressing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
He attributed the achievements to intelligence-led policing, targeted raids, sustained surveillance and prompt tactical responses across the state.
Jimoh said several suspects were apprehended for offences including conspiracy, robbery, armed robbery, vehicle theft, assault, fraudulent conversion, smuggling and threats to life.
“During the period, police recovered four locally fabricated guns, 13 cut-to-size pistols, nine live cartridges, one expended cartridge, fetish charms and other dangerous weapons.
“Bundles of suspected fake United States dollars and Euros were also seized during the operations,” the commissioner said.
Jimoh said a major breakthrough occurred in January with the arrest of 21 members of a “one-chance” kidnapping syndicate at Idimu, Alimosho area.
“Exhibits recovered included Toyota Corolla and Camry vehicles, fetish charms, 21 bundles of suspected fake US dollars and 12 bundles of suspected fake Euros,” he said.
The police boss also disclosed the arrest of a suspect linked to a bomb threat targeting three schools in Ikeja and the Ogombo area.
He noted that digital forensic investigations traced the threat to the suspect, adding that further investigations were ongoing.
Jimoh said several suspects were still assisting investigations into armed robbery, one-chance operations and interstate or cross-border vehicle-snatching networks.
He added that police were verifying ownership of recovered vehicles, tracing sources of fake currencies and tightening oversight of car-hire services exploited by criminals.
Jimoh reassured residents of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property across Lagos State.
He urged the public to cooperate with police by providing timely and credible information. (NAN)
