The Nigeria LNG Limited has once again emerged as the Most Compliant Taxpayer in corporate Nigeria, after receiving the top honour at the 2025 Federal Inland Revenue Service Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme.
The award, announced at the FIRS Day event during the 2025 Lagos International Trade Fair, marks the third time the gas company has clinched the title, reinforcing its reputation as one of the country’s most disciplined and transparent corporate taxpayers.
A statement on Monday by NLNG’s General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development, Sophia Horsfall, said the latest recognition reflects the company’s commitment to meeting its fiscal responsibilities.
According to the FIRS, NLNG’s consistency in remitting taxes and demonstrating openness in its dealings has set a benchmark for other corporate organisations and contributed significantly to Nigeria’s non-oil revenue performance.
This year’s award follows a similar win in 2024, as well as the company’s recognition as the Most Supportive Taxpayer in 2021, an honour it received for helping the FIRS surpass its revenue targets during a critical economic period.
Company representatives, including the Manager, Corporate Communications and Public Affairs, Anne-Marie Palmer Ikuku; Head of Tax Planning and Strategy, Ibukun Oni; and Head of Public Relations, Iwokiri Aprioku, received the award on behalf of NLNG.
Reacting to the development, NLNG’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Philip Mshelbila, described the honour as a validation of the company’s culture of accountability and the collective effort of its workforce.
“This recognition from the Federal Inland Revenue Service is deeply appreciated. It reflects the collective effort of our people, our Board, management and employees who remain committed to the highest standards of compliance and accountability.
“We take pride in contributing our fair share to national development, and we will continue to uphold practices that support Nigeria’s economic progress,” Mshelbila said.
He added that tax compliance remains central to NLNG’s values as it strives to maintain its status as a globally competitive energy company anchored on integrity, responsibility and sustainable development.
The FIRS Compliant Taxpayer Award and Recognition Programme was created by the agency’s Taxpayer Services Department to acknowledge organisations that demonstrate exemplary tax discipline.
