THE Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group), with the Lagos State Government and Health Emergency Initiative (HEI), has expanded Project BLOOM to Alimosho Local Government Area.
Project BLOOM was designed to tackle child malnutrition in underserved communities through targeted nutrition, healthcare support and caregiver education.
A statement by NGX on Sunday said the Alimosho outreach was the initiative’s third intervention, conducted within Lagos State Health District I.
The programme reached more than 120 malnourished children, providing nutritional support, medical screening and education for caregivers.
It followed earlier outreaches in Yaba and Ajegunle, which collectively benefited over 320 children and 300 caregivers.
Monitoring data from the first two phases showed that more than 50 per cent of beneficiaries recorded significant recovery.
During the Alimosho exercise, NGX Group staff volunteers worked with Lagos State health workers and HEI facilitators to conduct screenings and document assessment data.
NGX said structured follow-up visits had been scheduled after four weeks to monitor progress and deliver extended care where required.
Mr Temi Popoola, Group Managing Director of NGX Group, linked the initiative to economic resilience.
Popoola said: “Sustainable capital markets are built on strong social foundations.
“The recovery rates show that collaboration between public institutions, civil society and the private sector can deliver real, measurable impact.”
Executive Director of HEI, Mr Achunine Pascal, said child malnutrition remained a major contributor to under-five mortality in Nigeria.
He said Project BLOOM was designed to go beyond food support through structured follow-up and sustained healthcare intervention.
Chairman of Alimosho Local Government Area, Mr Akinpelu Ibrahim Johnson, said the initiative aligned with the council’s strategy on early detection and management of malnutrition.
Representing the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District I, Dr Solomon Adeyanju commended NGX Group, describing Project BLOOM as a strong complement to primary healthcare services.
The partners reaffirmed their commitment to reducing preventable child mortality while strengthening social foundations for sustainable economic growth. (NAN)
