NCDMB celebrates excellence with Champions of Nigerian Content Awards

THE Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB in partnership with Sweetcrude Limited celebrate the companies and individuals who have been at the forefront of delivering milestone achievements in the Nigerian oil and gas sector through the Champions of Nigerian Content Awards.

According to NCDMB, the Awards highlight great milestones that companies in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector are delivering. The facts and figures of these achievements are out there and easily verifiable.In addition to celebrating the torchbearers of Nigerian Content, the awards serve to foster and drive the adoption of Nigerian Content Implementation Framework by operators, service companies and other stakeholders, as well as encourage compliance with regulatory obligations outlined in the NOGICD Act.

Hosted at the NCDMB towers in Bayelsa State on Wednesday, the inaugural award comes on the heels of the 15th Anniversary of the NOGICD Act.

This is no mere coincidence, says Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, Executive Secretary of the NCDMB; “The time has come to identify and celebrate pillars of Nigerian Content who shall serve as a shining example of what is expected of others in the industry,” he declared.

Nominees in the 12 categories covers the Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the year, Nigerian Content Independent Upstream Operator of the year, Nigerian Content Midstream Operator of the year, Nigerian Content Financial Services Provider of the year, Nigerian Content Downstream Operator of the year, Nigerian Content Indigenous Service Company of the year, Nigerian Content International Service Company of the year and Nigerian Content Media Organization of the year.

Others are Nigerian Content Icon of the year, Nigerian Content Lifetime Achievement Award, Nigerian Content Innovator of the year, and Women in Leadership Award for promoting Women Empowerment.

Mr. Abdulmalik Halilu, Director, Monitoring and Evaluation, NCDMB also emphasized that the awards will motivate and reward Nigerian Content compliance in the oil and gas industry.

“The Board had mulled this event for a few years, and the launch signifies NCDMB’s conviction that companies and individuals who extend themselves to develop Nigerian Content and comply with extant regulations, should be identified by the regulator and celebrated, to serve as a beacon of motivation for other industry players.

“In the corporate category, winners will receive specially designed plaques. In addition, their names will be displayed at a specially designated section in the Nigerian Content Tower, which will be tagged: Wall of Fame, and seminar and breakout rooms will bear their names, for two years.

“For winners in the individual category, they will be presented specially designed plaques and their names displayed in the Wall of Fame, for two years. And the icing on the cake: Winners will receive complimentary invitation to NCDMB flagship industry events for one year.”

Ogbe also revealed that Nominees’ selection process was rigorous, with clear benchmarks used in determining eventual winners. Metrics such as NC Performance Report, Procurement Reports (service and material), NCDF Remittance, Research and Development (R&D), Marine Vessel Utilisation Report, are among the 20 criteria deployed to select the winners.

“With an awards Advisory Board made up of members with huge industry experience, knowledge and impeccable integrity, Champions of Nigerian Content Awards is, indeed, recognition that is incomparable.” he added.
