The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has resigned from his position. He was forced to resign by the 11 other Board Members. He was spending the money and running the place as his personal organization.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has been plagued by financial fraud allegations, including:
Misappropriation of N90 billion subsidy: The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating NAHCON found the commission guilty of financial mismanagement, logistical challenges, and lack of transparency in the use of the N90 billion federal subsidy.
Unaccounted funds: There was an unaccounted balance of N4 billion, which NAHCON failed to properly explain.
Inflated contracts and questionable dealings: Allegations of inflated contracts, negligence, and questionable dealings involving bed spaces and service providers in Saudi Arabia have led to significant financial losses.
Extra-budgetary expenditures: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating NAHCON Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, for extra-budgetary expenditures, gross misconduct, and breach of executive procedures.
Diversion of funds: Allegations of diversion of funds and abuse of office have led to the detention of senior NAHCON officials, including the Commissioner of Policy, Personnel, and Finance, and the Director of Finance and Accounts.
Lack of transparency: The breakdown of subsidy expenditure lacked proper transparency, with NAHCON officials providing conflicting figures during the investigation.
The EFCC and Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) have launched investigations into these allegations, with several senior officials grilled or detained.

Aliu Abdulrazak: Released from EFCC custody after being detained over alleged diversion of funds meant for the 2025 Hajj exercise.
