Investors Lost N8.62bn as NGXASI Declined by 0.02%; BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,520/USD

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

1.1 NGX – Listed Equities

The Nigeria stock market kicks off the trading week on a downward trend, continuing the previous decline on sustained profit-taking in PZ (-10.00%), DANGSUGAR (-0.86%), FBNH (-0.65%), TRANSCORP (-5.45%), and 21 others. 

The All-Share Index (NGXASI) dipped  0.02% to close at 100,006.79 points, extending Friday’s loss of 0.04% at 100,022.03 points. As such, investors lost N8.62bn as market capitalisation fell to N56.57trn, while the year-to-date return stood at 33.75%. 

The total volume traded advanced by 67.20% to close at 689.98m, valued at N7.17bn and traded in 9,635 deals. ELLAHLAKES was the most traded stock by volume, with N271.49m units traded, while GTCO was the most traded stock by value, worth N1.94bn.

The Gote and Toni indices declined by 0.02% and 0.49% to close at 343.22 and 1,291.73 points, respectively, while the Samad index remained flat at 364.34 points.

As measured by the market breadth index (MBI), investors’ sentiment closed negatively at -0.03x with 24 losers against 22 gainers, while 74 equities were unchanged. VERITASKAP topped the gainers’ list, while PZ topped the losers’ list.  

Volume and Value Contribution

ELLAHLAKES was the most traded in volume, contributing 39.35%, while UNIVINSURE and GTCO followed behind.  

The value chart shows that GTCO contributed the most, with a 27.04% share. UBA and ELLAHLAKES followed closely behind.

The NASD Securities Index also kickoff the week with a 0.30% drop to close at 1,536.48 points, following a flat close at 1,541.03 points on Friday.

The total volume traded advanced by 1174.82% to close at N5.05m units valued at N54.47m, traded in 13 deal(s).  

At the close of trading, the NASD OTC market recorded one (1) gainer and two (2) losers.
