Investors Lose N622bn as NGXASI Declines by 2.08%; Overnight Rate Contracts to 17.13%; BDC Rate Closes Flat at N745

Nigerian Equities Market closed negative as the key market indicator declined by 31.55 bps amid negative market breadth.

The NGX All-Share Index declined by 2.08% to close at 53750.77 basis points as against 0.06% loss recorded previously to close at 54,892.53 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N622bn loss.

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +4.88%

The total volume traded declined by 26.66% to close at N100.88m, valued at N4.34bn and traded in 3279 deals. GTCO  was the most traded stock by volume with 21.84m units traded while MTNN was the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.92b.

Sectoral performance was broadly negative as no NGX sector index closed northward, fifteen (15) sectors index closed southward and three (3) closed flat. No NGX index advanced while the NGX MAIN BOARD Index declined by 3.04% to top the losers’ chart.

The Gote index stayed flat to close at 150.52 basis points while the Toni index declined by 0.25% to close at 118.46 basis points.

At the close of trading, the market recorded 5 gainers to 21 losers and 78 unchanged. COURTVILLE topped the list of gainers while NCR topped the list of losers.

Thus, market breadth closed positive as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.21x.

Volume and Value Contribution

GTCO led the volume’s chart with 12.72% contribution and closely followed by ZENITHBANK and UBA

MTNN tops the value’s chart with 44.37% contribution and followed by SEPLAT and  AIRTELAFRI
