Investors Gained N62.03bn as NGXASI Advanced by 0.11%; BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,565/USD

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

1.1 NGX – Listed Equities

On Tuesday, the Nigerian equities market closed on a bullish note, surpassing the 100,000-point mark for the first time since July 9th, driven by upticks in UCAP (+10.00%), ZENITHBANK (+2.56%), WAPCO (+1.39%), FBNH (+1.11%), UBA (+0.66%), ETI (+0.47%), ACCESSCORP (+0.26%), FLOURMILL (+0.11%), and 11 others. 

As such, the All-Share Index (NGXASI) rose 0.11% to close at 100,075.59 points, consolidating Monday’s gain of 0.30% at 99,966.28 points. Investors gained N62.03bn as market capitalisation rose to N56.67trn while the year-to-date return stood at 33.84%.   

The Market Breadth Index (MBI), which measures investors’ sentiment, closed positively at 0.05x, with 19 gainers against 15 losers while 87 equities were unchanged. UCAP topped the gainers’ list, while REDSTAREX topped the losers’ list.  

The total volume traded advanced by 1.65% to close at 368.39m, valued at N7.42bn and traded in 8,151 deals. ZENITHBANK was the most traded stock by volume and value, with N57.42m units traded, worth N2.25bn

The Gote index declined 0.02% to close at 343.73 points, the Toni index advanced 0.35% to close at 1,288.63 points, while the Samad index remained flat at 364.34 points.

Volume and Value Contribution

ZENITHBANK was the most traded in volume, contributing 15.59%, while ACCESSCORP and GTCO followed closely.

The value chart shows that ZENITHBANK contributed the most, with a 30.25% share. GTCO and ACCESSCORP followed closely.

The NASD Securities Index continued its upward trend on Tuesday, building on the gains recorded on Monday. The NASD benchmark Index increased by 1.41% to close at 1,522.47 points, following a 0.60% uptick on Monday at 1,501.29 points. 

The total volume traded advanced by 583.00% to close at N3.69m units valued at N295.33m, traded in 26 deal(s).  

At the close of trading, the NASD OTC market recorded three (3) gainers and two (2) losers.
