Investors Gain N9.34bn as NGXASI Advances by 0.04%; Overnight Rate Expands to 16.25%; BDC Closes at 745

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

1.1 NGX – Listed Equities

Nigerian Equities Market closed positive as the key market indicator advanced by 17.15 bps amid negative market breadth

The NGX All-Share Index advanced by 0.04% to close at 48,899.08 basis points as against a 1.07% gain recorded previously to close at 48,881.93 basis points at the end of the last trading session. In Naira terms, the NGX Market CAP records a N9.34bn gain.

YTD, the NGXASI Stands at +14.47% 

The total volume traded advanced by 134.65% to close at 236.59m, valued at N2.52bn and traded in 3,334 deals. ACCESSCORP was the most traded stock by volume with 120.98m units traded while ACCESSCORP was also the most traded stock by value which is put at N1.03bn 

Sectoral performance was broadly positive as ten (10) NGX sector index closed northward, four (4) closed southward and four (4) closed flat. The NGX Banking index advanced by 0.47% to top the gainer’s chart while the NGX Insurance index declined by 0.61% to top the losers’ chart.

The Gote index closed flat at 136.87 basis points while the Toni index declined by 0.96% to close at 111.24 basis points.

At the close of trading, the market recorded 8 gainers to 10 losers and 80 unchanged. LEARNAFRCA topped the list of gainers while ROYALEX topped the list of losers. 

Thus, market breadth closed negative as the Market Breadth Index (MBI) is put at -0.03x.

Volume and Value Contribution

ACCESSCORP led the volume’s chart with 51.13% contribution and closely followed by JAIZBANK and GTCO

ACCESSCORP tops the value’s chart with 40.86% contribution and followed by GTCO and MTNN

Similarly, on the African scene, the BRVM BRVM-C Index tops the top four gainers with 1.54% gain while the Namibia NSX Namibia Index tops the top five losers with 1.75% loss as of 4pm Nigerian Time

The AFEX ACI closed flat at 455.71 while the AFEX AEI advanced by 0.61% to close at 233.16 basis points

3.2 AFEX Commodity Prices

Sorghum advanced by 3.37% to top the gainers’ chart while Cocoa declined by 0.09% to top the losers’ chart.

3.3 Global Commodity Prices

Gold recorded 0.56% loss while Silver declined by 1.15% as of 10: 33 NY time

In the energy market, Brent advanced by 2.64% and WTI also advanced by 3.45% as of 10: 35 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT)

4. CURRENCY/ FX M7ARKET

The naira at the I&E FX Window appreciated by 0.11% to close at N446/USD while the NAFEX rate also depreciated by 0.07% to close at N445.04/USD
