Equities Investors Lost N394.37bn with NGXASI Down 0.66% as Market Sustained Bearish Trend; BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,738/USD
1. EQUITIES MARKET
The Nigerian bourse sustained its negative trajectory at the close of Tuesday’s trading on selloffs in CADBURY (-9.89%), ARADEL (-8.33%), TRANSCORP (-7.41%), ACCESSCORP (-4.65%), FIDELITYBK (-3.82%), and STANBIC (-3.69%), among others.
Consequently, the All-Share Index (ASI) and market capitalisation fell 0.66%, with NGXASI closing at 98,058.07 points from 98,708.90 points the previous session while investors lost N394.37bn as market capitalisation dropped to N59.42trn. The year-to-date return declined to 31.14%.
The Market Breadth closed negatively at 0.09x with 26 gainers against 32 losers and 65 unchanged equities. NNFM topped the gainers’ list, while CADBURY topped the losers’ list.
The total volume traded advanced 13.06% to close at 399.32m, valued at N8.93bn and traded in 9,547 deals. UBA was the most traded stock by volume and value with 90.41m and N2.61bn units traded.
The Gote closed flat at 251.57 points, Samad indices declined by 0.33% at 325.04 respectively, while the Toni index fell 1.81% to close at 1,657.99 points.
Volume and Value Contribution
UBA was the most traded in volume, contributing 22.64%, while CHAMS and TRANSCORP followed closely with 20.18% and 7.93%, respectively.
UBA contributed the most in value traded, with a 29.22% share, while TRANSCORP and ARADEL followed closely.
