Egbetokun presents cheques worth N48m to fallen officers in Niger

THE Nigeria Police Force on Monday presented cheques worth over N48 million to families of fallen personnel in Niger.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Adaku Elleman said, in a statement  in Minna, that he presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

The IG said the money was for the 21 personnel who lost their lives in line of duty under the I-G’s Group Life Assurance Scheme.

Egbetokun urged the next of kin to see the token as a gesture of love in honour of the nation’s fallen heroes as no amount of money could equate the losses suffered.

“This consideration needs not adequate, but only real in the eyes of God.  Therefore, kindly accept the token and pray for God’s blessings upon the departed,” he said.

He urged the personnel to see the command as their second home and reach out when in need.

He explained to them the processes through which the payment would be made into their accounts as soon as possible to avoid any hitches.

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Salamatu Gambo appreciated the I-G and the Command for the kind gesture and prayed that God continued to bless the Police authorities and protect all officers.(NAN)
