 Investors Gained N6.19bn as NGXASI Advanced by 0.01%; BDC Rate Depreciated to N1,498/USD

1. EQUITIES MARKET 

1.1 NGX – Listed Equities

Following Wednesday’s gain, the Nigerian equities market recorded modest gains today, driven by lingering investors’ interests in SEPLAT (+10.00%), UCAP (+9.79%), UBA (+3.94%), FLOURMILL (+3.49%), FBNH (+2.90%), NB (+1.72%),  GTCO (+1.25%), and 26 others. 

Consequently, the All-Share Index (NGXASI) increased by 0.01% to 99,396.23 points, up from the previous 0.17% gain at 99,385.44 points at Wednesday’s close. This uptick augmented investors’ wealth by N6.19bn, bringing the Market Capitalisation to N56.23trn, with a year-to-date return of 32.93%.  

The total volume traded advanced by 91.55% to close at 529.37m, valued at N10.49bn and traded in 7,616 deals. GTCO was the most traded stock by volume and value, with 66.05m units traded at N2.93bn.

The Gote and Samad indices closed unchanged at 344.36 and 364.34 points, respectively, while the Toni index rose by 0.88% to close at 1,276.22 points.

As measured by the market breadth index (MBI), investors’ sentiment closed positively at 0.24x with 33 gainers against 16 losers, while 72 equities were unchanged. CUTIX topped the gainers’ list, while DAARCOMM topped the losers’ list.  

Volume and Value Contribution

GTCO was the most traded in volume, contributing 12.48%, while UACN and ACCESSCORP followed behind.  

The value chart shows that GTCO contributed the most, with a 27.92% share. JBERGER and MTNN followed closely behind.

The NASD Securities Index dropped 0.51% to close at 1,532.10 points, reversing Wednesday’s gain of 0.16% at 1,540.03 points.  

The total volume traded advanced by 23287.55% to close at N33.11m units valued at N277.04m, traded in 43 deal(s).  

At the close of trading, the NASD OTC market recorded zero (0) gainer and two (2) losers.
